The Slop Problem
Every day, millions of people generate AI content. Images, videos, memes, entire worlds built from a single prompt. It's the most creative era in human history — and platforms are trying to kill it.
X built an “Iron Slopdome” to detect, demote, and demonetize AI-generated content. Creators are being suspended from revenue sharing. InfoFi apps that rewarded users for posting were banned overnight. The algorithm now actively buries anything it flags as AI-made. Your reach gets throttled. Your content gets labeled. Your account gets shadowbanned.
The message is clear: AI content is unwelcome.
But here's what they got wrong. The problem was never the content — it was that there was nowhere for it to go. AI Slop had no economy. No market. No price discovery. No way for creators to capture value from what they made. So it flooded timelines with no purpose other than impressions, and platforms responded the only way they knew how — suppression.
